Digital Hollywood
I had never attended DIGITAL HOLLYWOOD - the twice yearly international event in Santa Monica. It was a virtual cornucopia of cutting edge information, companies and people with many years of start-up and digital new media experience. So there I was for 4 four days, soaking up as much as I could. The ironic thing to me was that one of the things that now happens in our wired world is that when people are in front of you at seminars, wanting your knowledge, they are in front of laptops and PDAs - blogging and Facebooking and tweeting away. The Digerati there, embrace it all, but a few seemed somewhat disconcerted that their pearls of wisdom were part of the audience's background noise. Do we feel more important in our private worlds when we are on-line during other people's presentations? Does this bother anyone else, or am I dinosaur? As much as I love and consume media, I still like to be with people face to face.
By the way, there are still start-ups - web 2.0 and 3.0 AND there are still venture capital firms pursuing their business.
